As co-director of Research Focus Group 1, Dr. Vaillancourt's goal is to help facilitate interactions amongst the group members so that research collaborations can evolve into synergistic research projects. His research interests lie in the area of molecular toxicology and signal transduction. He is also organizer of the Southwest Environmental Health Science Center (SWEHSC) seminar program. Although he occasionally invites guest speakers for seminars, he encourage SWEHSC members to invite colleagues as well as other scientists to present seminars on cutting edge topics that will be of interest to not only the faculty, but also to the graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. The goal is to invite speakers who will broaden the knowledge base of center members, but also to enlighten students to potential career avenues once they leave the University of Arizona.
